Why I Missed the Shot, A Photographer's Frustrations

Woe is me I missed the shot,
my camera battery had drained
while the action was hot.

Many a photographer can relate
to similar tragedies
of such ill fate.

Sometimes it is bad timing
and just missing prime light
that will cause you to lament
your saddening plight.

Other times it is a physical thing
your arms grow weary from holding them up
while you give them a rest out of the water does spring
a momma seal and her young frisky pup.

You note your memory card is full
while snapping pics on the beach
suddenly out of the water does leap
an adult orca whale in dazzling breach.

Crowds will flock to spoil your view
you attempt to scare them away with a boo or kung fu
however no camera click will ensue
for this crowd won’t disperse, boo-who!

Then there is the ever maddening comment
of other’s before you
who have no ill intent.
“You should have been here last week,
the fall foliage was at a fantastic peak.”
or “The lake was smooth as glass
a day or two ago,
such reflections never to be surpassed”
on which you shall now have to pass.
For photogenic they are?...No!
